Console repair

my console has a similar tear (only larger) to the one that is pictured in this photo. Does anyone have any ideas on fixing it? I've considered simply goin for a cover-up and screwing a metal plate on there .. shiny metal could look good.

you can get a real plastic welder... or you can try plastic welder epoxy, but i have only been able to find that in tan, so you'd have to dye/paint it afterwards
