74 Owners
Well there seems to be a bit of interest lately about the 74,
http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57109
so I figured I'd start a thread for us orphan guys.
So when did the seatbelt interlock come and go?
And the passenger fender cutout / indent?
anything else. HEI? interior color combos?
So post up if your a 74 owner.

What does the last number sequence (480015) mean? No answer in the decoding section.

It's a Camaro Type LT, I'm the 3rd owner and it was originally an L65 car. The current 3.08 posi was aparently not stock on the car. The carpet is black, it has the black/knit vinyl seats and the car was originally aqua blue (currently red, but it was obvious from chipped paint that blue is underneath it). I plan to redo the car in original color with a candy coat and maybe some stripes.
It originally came with the seatbelt interlock and all the wires including the under hood switch are still in place, there is no module in the seat anymore. I have no idea what ignition system came on the car originally.

Good Idea this 74 only thread!! Glad I stirred it up a bit
What those boys with the 77 Z28's can do, we can do!!
No longer with the Starter Interlock but hopefully one day it will be complete again.
If you look at the 75 wiring diagram there is still a starter interlock.
President Ford signed a new law in october 1975 that the starter interlock was no longer necessary.
So cars from that time must have the system also.
Okay, here's my car's body tag:
ST74 1FQ87N 251326 BDY
TR 777 A51 29 29 PNT
07C Z28 BLK
440270
Factory HEI.
I put the stripes on myself, so that's not original.
EDIT: With the Fender Cutout!
Cya,
Edmond

Here's the cutout on the fender. A cool air duct was connected from the air cleaner on some 74 cars. On some the cutout was not there. On others there was a depression (stamped area) where the cutout should go but it wasn't cut. There seems to be a bit of mystery as to when it started and stopped (just like the interlock). And again, I believe some early 75's had the stamped area.

My first car was a 74 Camaro and I really loved that car. When it left my loving hands it was Porsche Red with black stripes, Cowl hood, and 84 Z28 wheels, Sporting a personalized plate that said "Yo Mama". I had to let it go because the signs of Cancer were starting to show up on her in the form of corrosion. I didnt have the money to keep her and my 70 RS/SS so I had to let her go. I seen her again a few years ago and the whole front end was crinkled up in a crash, and the quarter panels were rust city. Now that I do have a little money I thought about trying to buy her back. Probably should have but the wife would've thrown a fit. I'm sure she's been turned into soup cans by now. I would though like to find a 74 LT/Z28 with the Z28 hood stripe option some day soon before the price goes to high on those. Great car my friends and I partied like we were Immortal in that car. Did 140 mph coming back from a concert in her. Which was stupid, my friends were dead silent, and I was laughing like a mad man. I'm lucky to be alive, and I'm lucky that I didn't kill anyone.

Here is my 74 Z type lt. Factory Air, numbers matching block, original crank, rods, and windage tray. When I rebuilt the motor a couple of years ago, it still had the original TRW forged slugs in it with a GM part number on them.
