This means that while you will experience a lower increase initially, your bills will rise more significantly from March 2007 through May 2008 (May 2009 for Certified Low Income) as you pay back the deferred amount.

Make sure you op-out if you don't want to be enrolled for this crap. They automatically enroll you so they can start charging you interest.

Thanks,
I didn't know we were automatically enrolled. Although since I know how they are, I should have.

This law is not optional and all customers, per legislative directive, are participants. Whether you opted-in, opted-out or were still making up your mind, NO ACTION is required.

The BGE Plan UPDATED 6-29-06
Current Status On June 23, 2006, the Maryland Legislature passed a law to address the electric rates for BGE residential customers. This law replaces all prior Rate Plans. Beginning July 1, 2006, the total electricity rate will increase by 15% for every BGE residential customer. The 15% increase will remain in effect from July 1, 2006 through May 31, 2007. Every BGE residential customer will pay the same increase. You do not need to contact BGE.
