What is this hole for?

Directly under the radio there is a rectangular hole, with what looks like a screw hole like 2 inches behind it. Anyone have an idea what this is for? By the way, this is in my 79z.

It's a heater vent.It consists of two parts. One is a hard plastic molded tube which screws under the radio. The other is a flexable tube which connects to the heater box.I can send a pic to you tomorrow.

yeah please send pics!! So a vent goes into the hole, and a duct runs kinda straight back to the firewall? Needless to say, my car doesnt have any of that. Thanks in for the info!!

There should be an oblong outlet off the heater just above the transmission hump - straight back from the vent hole under the radio. If you don't know where you would find another part if your car doesn't have them.

Good luck,
Nat

If it is missing you can contact Fbodywarehouse.com. When I found missing items, I give them a copy of the assembly manual page with the missing part. They have allways had the rare part I was missing. great guys to deal with.
