Gas Tank
I'm looking for ideas for a finish on my gas tank. The tank is original and in vary good shape (California car), I'm going to have it cleaned by a local radiator shop. When I get it back I was thinking of having it powder coated gray or black.
Has anyone on the board powder coated a gas tank?

I dont think it would be a problem at all,and I think It would look great too!
if you are a purist, and have a nice clean tank with good plating on it you might consider having it powder coated clear.

Not a purist, since I live in CA I need to keep the smog crap, but I'm building the most motor I can and still get pass the CA Smog laws.
I'm going to push the law as far as I can. Most of the parts I'm using have CA EO's (Executive Orders) that say they are smog legal.
I'm going with early 90's Camaro serpentine belt setup with the power steering, alternator, A/C compresser, and yes a Smog pump. I have Headman Shorty headers with the smog tubes, and will use Flowmaster's true dual exhaust with 2 cats.
If push comes to shove I'll register the car in Oregon at my mother-in-laws home and just drive it in CA.

Yo! Bob78!
Nice! I'm way outta legal, but I live outside the pollution restriction areas. Drive into them each day to work though. Headers and 2.5" duals with turbo mufflers that exit prior to the rear tires! Gotta get a PCV valve to replace my breathers thought, 'cause it messes up my polished valve covers! I tune the carb as necessary, or each two weeks just to be sure I get the best gas milage, power, and try to keep our air clean! Best of luck,...Todd.
