Here is a pic of my 1971 Camaro. I have had it about 2 months now. I have big plans for it. I have been shopping around for the last year looking for the best car to start with. I finally found this rust free survivor. It has a repaint on it. The original color is copper and the orignial interior color is saddlewood. The car is an original V8, column shift no frills option car. It is perfect for my LS swap daily driver. The current 350 is worked over pretty well....aftermarket heads, 500 lift cam, holley 750, MSD full ignition and headers. A good running motor around the 240 hp range but gets around 6 mpg...SUCK. I daily drive for now, stock piling my conversion parts. Hope to have the missing part (engine and trans) soon.

Today I started my carpet replacement. I ordered replacement carpet from Year One. I am slowly replacing all interior parts with black. My current interior plastics are dried out and falling apart. Redying them is not an option.

I removed the rear carpet and so far no rust.

I pulled off the tar paper without much of a fight.

I removed the back seats and found only a little bit of surface rust. A wire brush took care of it.

A bit of sanding to roughen up the paint.

I used POR 15 paint. Good news is a 4 oz can liberally used is enough for the rear area.

I followed up with an aeresol POR undercoating ontop for extra protection.

I lost daylight and will have to install the carpet tomorrow. I should have time to strip and treat the front as well.

I am waiting for my LS3 to arrive. Hopefully in a couple weeks.

I finished up my POR and carpet install today. Some progress pics. I did end up finding a little bit of rust. Nothing rotted all the way thru. I am glad I found it when I did.

Some more POR treatments.

I also had time to get the carpet kit installed. I needed to perform a cutout to get the rear seat installed.

Another pic. The complete carpet kit looks good in the car. I should have time tomorrow to vacuum it out and wash it down. There is a little coating of sanding dust all over it.

I got lucky and picked up some rally wheels from a local hoarder. 15x10s and 15x8s. I will have the 15x10s blasted and powder coated. I want them to replace the 15x8s I am currently using on the rear axle.

I am not sure what the backspacing is. They are currently at the powder coaters. I should have them back this week and I will install them asap.
Your gonna need at the least 5.5" backspace to make them work, cross your fingers.
