Windshield broke on its own?

Quite odd, the other day we found the passenger side lower corner of the WS
broke while sitting in the driveway. This is the same corner I found rust on the
top of the dash and underneath. The WS was delaminating and we planned on
replacing it soon, while it was out taking care of the rust and making a bracket
to hold the dash pad down. I assume the rust pushed the WS up and broke it
by adding stress to it? Anyone else have this happen?

Of course .. as usual my wifes crappy State Farm insurance uses this moment
to let her know she has NO WS coverage. State Farm sucks, you might as well
go with Geico instead.

Its also possible someone came by and hit it with something to break it.

It is possible that the window just broke from the heat of the sun. I've seen that before. The sun shining into a closed up vehicle can create serious heat, and sometimes it doesn't even take excessive heat because the curved glass can reflect the sun in a way to create a hot spot.

Good point ... maybe its unrelated to the rust. Its weird because the glass is
not level anymore, the breaks are skewed, you can feel the edge. Maybe the
edge of the glass delaminated like the top is and that shot a crack? Its weird.

Now I need a windshield. Any pointers on what company to go with? Or one
to avoid?

Are you sure the tip of the hood didn't get under it and start the crack or something else start it? I've seen cracks spread from the heat but never seen the heat cause one to crack. I've seen some very rusty window channels also and the window was still good.

F bodys are prone to windshield cracks at the corners from body flex.

I always thought the windshield crack was a standard item from the factory...

I am running subframe connectors, poly subframe mounts, ETC.

I dont think I have any flex left to crack the windshield .. The glass isnt just
cracked either .. its lifted at one crack to where you can feel the edge.

Glass coverage is one of those little things that's nice to have and it's not really that expensive.

This is the first I found out she DIDNT have coverage. I just had my Impala
SS windshield replaced for only 50 bucks out of pocket. She insisted on this
insurance agent shes had since she was 18. They screwed us over when she
totalled her MINT 1995 Camaro Z28 (not even a ding in the rear fenders) so
we ended up with a beat up 1999 SS since we couldnt find another 1995 in
condition remotely close to hers. Still she wouldnt switch. She wonders why
my insurance is more than hers ... hmmm. Full coverage 5 cars. We put her
1986 Camaro IROC on my insurance because hers was dicking around, and
she asked what level I had on it (since it sat out on the street over night) I
said "everything". She says .. "everything?" I said.. yah it was $50 more.
