New guy ( 78 camaro LT)

Here’s the story on my 78 Camaro type LT and how I got it. This car has been sitting for at least 6 years that I knew of, I was always trying to get the car from the guy who owned it but he never came off it until a week ago when I did some trading for it. Jet Ski that needed work and 200 cash. The car is in need of some work but I am hoping to get it going and back on the road until my son gets old enough to help restore it with me as a father and son project. I won’t be going all out as I will be moving from Missouri to Georgia here in a few months. Enjoy the pictures of my car as it sits

My plans are to get it running, new brakes, suspension and fix the rust issues. I just want a nice classic car to drive around on nice days and let my son drive it to prom (if he doesn’t hotrod it). I have the 350 engine in the car and running but I would like to get some headers for it, so what headers work/fit best with a four speed manual?

Welcome to the board!

Looks like you've got a nice project on your hands. How long before your son starts helping with it?

Must have been outdoors for quite a while. The price you paid sure seems reasonable. Subframe look okay?

I see the car was originally red. Do you know the paint code?
Did you find a copy of the build sheet when you were taking the seats and carpet out?

Wayback,
He has a few more years. Yes the car was outside for 6 years until I got it as it now resides in my garage. subframe is in good shape other then needing cleaned and paint, rear frame rails are in great shape just some surface rust. No build sheet

Guys here have found copies of the build sheet in all kinds of crazy places. I was fortunate in finding a copy under one of the rear seat buns.

Like you, if I was planning to move to another state within the next few months I'd focus on structural issues like the floors and subframe bushings to have it ready for long distance transport.

Looks like you're already on a roll. Good luck with the work and keep us posted on your progress.

No build sheet yet, I figure it’s easy to move the car complete instead of being in pieces as I don’t want to lose anything. Now it’s running and driving it will be easy to load and unload. Do you know where to get a wiring diagram as I need to hook up my temp gauge? Waiting on floor pans and brake lines to come in so its just the small stuff now.

Some Haynes manuals have wiring diagrams near the back. If yours doesn't, try here: http://www.nastyz28.com/2gcog/wiring.html
