1970 RS Z28-Dads Project
Thought i'd start a project thread for dad's 70 RS Z28. Little bit of the story with the car. I found it just over a yr ago in eastern oregon. We had gotten the car from the 2nd owners widow. The gentel men had passed away in a log truck accident in 1982. The car had been parked ever since. It was a sad day to watch her cry as the car left her property, i personaly dont think she ever remarried based on the pics inside the house. Once we got the car home we started going through it. As we dug in, we found some paper work with the original owners name and pre check out sheet still in the glove box. The car was an absolut time capsule, park in 82' and still had 1982 air inside the car. Long story short, i found the original owner in Flordia! We talked on the phone for almost an hour. He had bought the car when he returned from Vietnam back to Oregon. He said he took a fist full of cash up to Tacoma, WA and bought it new off the lot. He later sold it to a young logger in Portland because he (the 1st owner) needed a larger car for his growing family.................The car is all there except the original block. It has 75 CE block and one replacement head......dad has decided to put a date code correct motor back together. Well the car should be coming out of paint and body in about 2 weeks and boy these guys are doing one heck of a job!!! more updates coming soon. Dad isnt the most tech savvy person so i'll be updating for him.

Awesome story to know so much history about the car. Good find also. They would be proud to know it is being restored. Keep posting pics. Looks like a fun project. I went to lincoln city oregon in late 90's. Wish I would have checked out the eastern side. :=)

Eastern Oregon is night and day compared to the Western side. I love the coast but outside of the that, you can have the western part of the state! To much rain and weirdos!!!

I did get yelled at as I was trying to pump my own gas. I was told that was not allowed. We did make it a little east to Mount hood and some waterfall on the way there. Multnoma falls ? We stayed on the beach just to relax most of the week. Can't wait to see your car in a couple of weeks.

Interesting...from the VIN, it looks like a Norwood car? Maybe that's an "L" but what's interesting is the sequence of the number compared to the date code of the parts. Your "510596" is ahead of my "513338" but my car parts date code is in February and yours are in March!
Wait a minute, I just noticed you have a build sheet...must be an LA car! That would account for the different number sequences.

Interesting the original owner said he bought off the lot here in Tacoma. The PDI sheet shows Bud Clary Chevrolet in Long View WA (a long way away from Tacoma). I wonder if the car was from Bud Clary and dealer traded to South Tacoma Chevrolet (6 blocks from my house) where he bought it while living on Fort Lewis army base here in Tacoma.
