My First Car...Hopefully!
*****EDIT*****GO TO PAGE TWO FOR AN OUTSIDE PICTURE, JUST REALIZED I NEVER POSTED ONE OF THE WHOLE CAR!*****EDIT*****
Hi, I started a project thread all ready about my Camaro, but I recently bought a better camera so I decided to re-post this as my pictures will be a lot better. I got this 1979 z28 with just over 82,000 miles on the engine about a month ago and joined now a little over a month ago, I am 13 and looking to get this car together for my first car. I started looking for a dashboard for my 81 Camaro, but we found nothing so my dad called his friend and he said he could give us a 305 for the 81, but the 79 was sitting in his garage, and the rest was history. So now the 81 is just parts for my 79. The car is very solid and looks as if it has been taken a part and rebuilt recently, it has very few rust (at least rust I've found so far) and the paint is pretty ruff. I bought this Camaro for $1,200 and just rebuilt the engine (which sounds pretty good). I don't have a ton of money so this project won't be really fast, but I will try my best. Now for some pictures!
This are the only rust that I've found so far:
Interior's in pretty good shape, just dirty:
Paint's in pretty bad shape:

All tore down:

Edelbrock Performer intake:
And there you go, this should be somewhere around 300 HP:

Thanks, when I get off for Christmas break I'll be pulling the seats and carpet out, and hopefully there won't be too much rust. Just as long as the passenger seat comes out better than the driver seat did it shouldn't take too long.

Vision, imagination, and a willingness to make it happen.... that's what carries us on to make it happen! A little cash helps, but be very careful where you put it.
Congratulations on the Camaro! Very cool!

Okay, I have made a little progress today. I got the drivers seat out, and all the back seats out, after Christmas I will take the center console out and the passenger seat out too. Under the Driver side rear seat there is some rust that goes completely through, but under the passenger rear seat I found about a 6 inch tall mound of mouse bit sized pieces of seat cushion (nothing the shop vac. couldn't handle), driver seat was pretty tore up undernieth, and a little under the passenger rear seat was tor up too, just hoping the passenger seat still has some cushion left! Luckily, someone has already patched the rust up. I have that 81 Camaro that its rear is completely rust free so I will replace the 79 with the 81...are those interchangeable? Also still haven't pulled up the carpet at all, after Christmas If the passenger seat comes out alright it should be downhill from there.
Here is the under the rear driver side:
Under the driver's seat:
Behind the upper rear seat is pretty solid:
Under the rear passenger seat:
Lastly, what I have left to take out:
Thanks for looking!
