Trunk Lock Cylinder Alignment Issues, Please Help

There was no lock cylinder for the trunk when we bought the car. Other damage in the past or just using a screwdriver to open the trunk for who knows how long had bent the sheet metal around the opening. I have flattened it back out to where it looks correct to me. I ordered a cylinder shaft from Classic and am trying to use it with a lock cylinder from a 3rd gen that I had laying around. The geometry is way off. The cylinder points upward and puts the shaft in a bind when you try to rotate the cylinder to undo the latch. Either my sheet metal needs more massaging, or the lock cylinder I am using is too long. Can someone post a picture of their cylinder, shaft, latch set up so I can figure this thing out, thanks.

Thanks for the pictures 76. Mine is different than yours. I should have specified the year, mine is an 80 so I need to see pictures of a 78 to 81. I didn't realize there were three different rear panels for 2nd gens.
