Keisler tranny's

Anybody had any experience with these guys. From what I read on the internet they seem to have a supply problem.I'm kinda looking at their RS400 tranny.Pretty good savings over TKO"s.

I sent an online quote 2 days ago, called today and was on hold for 18 minutes, transferred and was disconnected. I do not think a supply problem is all of their troubles.

I have dealt with them many times over the last 10 years maybe 20 TKO Kits for different cars all worked out great and always had them at my door no more then two weeks after ordering them.

I've heard about a lot of shipping delays. Especially with their all new 5-speed trannys.

This is an alternative solution.

I used Keisler when I bought the TKO for my '69 vette. No issues with their kit but I would not bother with their RS tranny. I have heard of nothing but delivery delays and its not much cheaper than going the proven TKO route.

I just ordered a TKO600 from American Powertrain for the Camaro - they were by far the best as far as price goes and they have an excellent reputation.

They also worked with me in piecing together the specific items I wanted vs buying a prepackaged kit.

Good luck, Ed

Yeah I've read of their delivery problems also. But the rs400 is a direct bolt in with my clutch and everything.Saved me about $500 over the tko.Plus if there's a problem with getting it I can always go the tko route. My car is on the road right now so I'm in no hurry. We'll see how this works out.

Another + for American Power Train. Along with shipping delays, I'm hearing the RS trannys that have been recieved are not living up to expectations as far as smooth shifting and zero mod install. FWIW

Read that too.I've been on the corvette, chevelle and other camaro message boards and well aware of what's being said. After emailing and talking with keisler I feel pretty good about my purchase.I've also talked with people that are not happy with the shifting of their tko's.That's one of the reasons for my decision.I'll just have to wait and see how it all works out.Hopefully everything will pan out.

I have 2 friends that have the RS trannies and both of them have broke. I doubt these things will ever be as strong as the TKO. The case they start out with ( T-45 ) is the weak link. The one my friend has is a powder coated case and the powder coating flaked off everywhere before it blew up which tells me the case is flexing.

TKO shifting can be improved with better synchros. in fact I think newers ones have the fix factory installed. try APT or http://www.hurst-drivelines.com/ for info. If you need a current tko (or T56) updated hit up Bob Hanlon www.hanlonmotorsports.com

So what broke on your 2 friends RS trannies?Did Keisler stand behind them? And could the powder coating be flaking not bceause of flex but an adhesion problem?

Considering he had it powder coated three times by different people I doubt it's an adhesion problem. Both guys had the main shaft bearings fail and the one guy had a second failure that was exploded gears. The only time tko's have shifting problems is when you spin the rpms up past 6k. I have 2 cars with tko-600's in them and have had zero issues with shifting or anything else for that matter.
