Thumbs up My ly6 build

So i thought i would make a new thread documenting my ly6 build.
I bought this for around 2 grand give or take a dollar or two motor came from a 2008 GMC sierra 2500 HD truck. 21,000 MILES.

Went with brp's install kit came with mounts crosmember oil pan and all fasteners the fit is very nice and the parts look great.

I have decided i want to go carberated i hate dealing with a ton of wires plus
i love the look of a carbed motor.

I started cleaning her up sprayed a couple of coats of gloss black. i am also keeping the VVT i will be using the msd 6012 box to fire the coils.

I chose the vic jr intake will be running a Barry grant 750 carb.

and turn one ps pump set up.

also went with a 06 zo6 clutch it was a new take out and the price was rite.
I will be using my original numbers matching (RPO CODE M21) IRON CASE & IRON MID PLATE CLOSE RATIO SUPER T-10 4 SPEED
I had the trans set up to match the rear gear "3:73'S"
BIG THANKS TO DAVE'S 4 SPEEDS HE DID A AWESOME JOB!
I will bell-housing lakewood's 150050 belhousing
http://www.davids4speeds.com/

Also using the f-body drive system after some trial and error fitting parts i finally got it rite i used a f-body water pump with 1.5 spacers to clear the vvt i also spaced out the power steering and alternator 3/4's of an inch away from the motor, i also used a vette tensioner at first i used the f-body balancer that was a no go since it did not line up so i went back to the truck balancer it came with and it was a perfect match, also want to mention that i had no problems with the pitman anr clearence its all good

I will be updating as cash deems necessary lol.

Nice fit!

Weren't some other folks here having trouble with that type of alternator mount?

Sweet.
I'd like to see a build sheet with part #'s and prices for a carb'd setup.
I don't think anyone here has done a full list like that yet to compare.

Keeping the fuel injection runs you probably ~$550 for a tank & pump, plus Speartech mods $800.
So ~$1350 to keep it. So I'm curious what it cost to compare to lose the EFI.

Depends on which alternator it is.
That's the same mount as the GTO and F-body, but the GTO alternator I heard is bigger.

I guess it's the luck of the draw with your motor mounts too.

yea that would be interesting. this motor had the ugly truck intake so you have to add the cost of a new intake and what ever else it requires to work,
I guess if you buy a complete pull out with every thing it might be cheaper? anyways im happy with this setup its what i wanted a carbed ly6.

Technically you already have.
That Victor Jr carb intake runs about $300+ right??
There are LS3 intakes with injectors for $200-$300 out there.
I'm pretty sure you'd just swap on the throttle body from the truck EFI intake.
So that's a break even point.

Sensors is a big one that adds up quick too. O2's, MAF, etc.
Not sure which are necessary for the carb setup and it's controller.

Have you gotten that far along yet ?
