1979 camaro z28 5.7 L emission diagram

Does anyone have a diagram that shows the original equipment that came in a 79 z28. I live in ontario and the Ministry of enviorment is coming after classic car for polution equipment. I think it only have to be in the car it does not have to work. We don't require an emmision test but we do requir to have the original smog equipment on board.

If someone can help that would be great I tried looking on line but no luck

Maybe.... Ask the Ministry of Environment what they expect to see?

I would have a catalytic converter, a restricted fuel inlet (unleaded only), an EGR valve, a PCV valve and possibly an AIR pump with the corresponding manifolds.

I don't know what the rules were for a Canadian car back then.
Was it built for export to Canada? (KPH instead of MPH speedometer)

You'll also want to hook up your charcoal filter as well.

I am for sure going to hook up tha charcoal canister just for the gas fume alone.

Iam running a stock block with a mild cam
edelbrock carb and intake
holley valve covers
hooker headers
2 1/2 " dual stainless exhaust with magna flow mufflers and high flow cats

I hope I can make the old polution work with these slight changes.
The only thing is the vac pump is this what they call the smog pump?

I also intend to put back the pcv and egr I belive the egr will also help with idle

Air Injection Reactor (A.I.R.) pump.... Yes, That's the "smog" pump.
(Pumps air into the mainfolds, it's not a vacuum.)

It must have everything it had when new and it must turn and have a belt such as the smog pump, no exceptions. Each infraction will cost you about $350.00. Say bye bye to your headers unless you get someone to weld the smog tubes in them.

Are you serious i can not run headers? everyone runs headers back in the day the first thing to come off were the exhaust manifolds. I asked two MTO officers and they told me that they would not bug me with the headers as long as I had cats, egr and vac pump.Do you know for a fact that they are looking for headers.

The 79 I don't think even had the smog tubes I think they came into play in 80 and 81

Can someone that has been pulled over by these smog cops confirm if they were running headers and what did they say about them.

This whole thing is making reconsider even finishing my project.

No smog pump on Canadian or Federal 79 Z cars. Diagram in the service manual is correct except the Thermac ( heated air intake ) is not shown.

So are you saying that A 79 z28 did not have a smog pump. So am I only suposed to have the charcoal canister hooked up to the PCV and the ERG valve? My Car was born in Canada and first registered in Alberta Canada.
What is this thermac you are talking about?
