TH400 Decode....Need Help

I put this in here last year but got no response, maybe because of these odd #s. Anyway, a friend of mine purchased a 71Z and now I'm looking at buying it from him. Every # I've checked on the car is correct with the exception of the trans. It has H1T03594 stamped on the pad above the pan on the drivers side - which I can't make heads or tails of. And 8623462 and 8624468 casting #s on the passenger side along with "General Motors Corp". The car looks very original with this one exception. I'm stumped.....

Ty,
I found no tag...that's not to say that I may have over looked it. Where is your tag located?

Jerry, the tag is on the pass. side above the pan.The tag is about 1 inch by 2 inch.It has a rivit through the middle of it.If yours doesn't have the tag maybe it still has the rivit.Let me know what you find.Maybe someone who has a 71Z with an auto can chime in and give you the info you are looking for. What is the build date for your car?Ty

Ty,
Build date on this car is 2/71. Build date on my car is 5/71. I don't find the riveted tag on passengers side of my trans. either but the # over the pan (on the drivers side) is correct with year, plant and last 6 numbers of the vin.
Thanks for the help,
Jerry

H1T03594
H - Hydramatic
1 - Model year serviced
T - Trans
03594 - Ident number

Looks to be a service replacement.

Is this the same one with the VIN derivative stamped on it? I am confused. Should not be there on a service parts unless someone placed it there in to make a matching numbers trans out of a replacement trans.

Mike,
This is on the car I'm looking to buy. This is stamped where the vin derivative should be (above the pan on the drivers side). If a dealer replacement (warranty work), would the dealer have stamped it?
Thanks for checking this,
Jerry

No, the dealer would not do this.
