Rewiring my 73 any suggestions
I'm looking to rewire my 73 and I've been looking at AWW or painless. I'm going with Autometer gauges in the dash.

I am about finished with re-wiring my 70 with an AAW. A very nice kit with good instructions and great tech support. Baring a total meltdown once I put the key in the ignition, I highly recommend AAW.
I sat on the kit for 6 months intimidated by the project, but have found it to be rather easy.
Good luck.

Ive got an AAW classic update kit half installed and I like it also.Easy to follow instructions and they give you much more wire than you need to run it how you want.

About 8 months ago I think I paid about $560 for their "Classic Update kit" (for use potentially more modern accessories)(I think the factory match kit is actually much more expensive). It is highly recommended that you buy/rent their GM crimping tools for $200/$50 which work real nicely.
Good luck.

When you start running the wire,I found something that I really like. I bought these "self soldering connectors". Basically they look like regulare crimp connectors, but they have clear heat shrink over them. You out them on the wires, heat them with a cigarette lighter or something similar, you can see the solder flow around the wore as the shrink squeezes down. You can even out an extra layer of heat shrink over them if you like. I have them on the 74 that I just rewired. I took the 2 power leads that go to the battery stud on the starter and moved them up to the firewall and installed an 80 amp circuit breaker in place of the fuseable link. I used the self soldering connectors on the big wires going to the breaker into the car and to the battery. It is very neat, not near the headers, and still protected. Good luck.
