The strut was bought off ebay. The number for this particluar strut was

Two Stainless Steel bracket mount stud 10MM. One with the ball on the outside and one on the inside of the bracket.

Been thinking about that for mine lately. My lid used to squeak like crazy going up and down so I oiled up everything, mistake. How did you figure where to put the mounting points? Climb in the trunk and close the lid?

Haha, No actually lots of measuring and masking tape. I was so scared to drill into the car... But it wasnt bad at all.

Very nice! Do you happen to have part numbers on the mounting plates as well? Happen to have measurements as to where to put the plates?

Nice job.
My trunk springs were shot so I did this a few years back on mine too. I just used a Fiat Uno rear hatch gas strut with the brackets it came off the car.
I mounted the lower bracket further forward though as my strut was shorter..
Works great.

I just bought a strut off ebay and realized that the shipping was $11. Ahhh they got me on that. I guess $22 for the strut is ok though. Thanks again vtmv for posting up the part number

Looks really nice. I was thinking about doing this after I saw the Ring Brothers Camaro picture.

That looks much sharper than the stick I am using right now. Great idea. I believe I will do this on the 71.
