Look fast... I can't hold this thing all day!
Here's one after install:
My smog pump is no longer in the mix.
Everything else is there for factory accessories and brackets.

There were quite a few different setups from the factory in the V-belt days. Whatcha starting with?
By far THE MOST COMMON area of frustration is the power steering bracket. The fulcrum bolt that it rotates around for belt tightening (lower bolt hole on the intake side of the driver's head) is also a spacer. From the factory it's a double sided stud with the hex head in the middle. Not only does the hex head part serve to give you a place to tighten it into the head with a wrench it also serves to space that "arm" of the PS bracket out about 3/16" from the head. Without that spacing NOTHING lines up right on that side of the engine.
Just FYI.

Im starting with a Re-built 305 of mystery year from advanced auto. I have the stock brackets for the powersteering and the A/C but the guy who pulled the engine lost all the bolts....... I'm pretty sure I have the right bracket for the alt. (it looks like the one in the picture) but I wont be sure till I bolt it on and check for alignment.
(edit...79camarogirl is my girlfriend)
