HELP - Need Control Arm Shaft
I am freshening up the front end on my '72. I'm just going back with OE type stuff. Fresh rubber on everything and reusing the control arms. Just a few more things to do and I can start to reassemble. I'm a bit over buget on this project and now I found one of my control arm shafts is alittle tore up, can't reuse it. Looking around I can not find just an OE type shaft for sale. Also Chevy changed the upper control arm shaft in '73. So only a '70-'72 shaft will work.
Does anyone have a OE type control arm shaft laying around they would sell? I'm itching to get this thing back together, I need it.

Camarolina and I just exchanged emails to compare (I measured a 76 shaft and he measured a 70-72). We found that the mounting bolt holes are 1/2" further apart on the 73+ cross shaft and also the overall width is 1/2" wider too. Not close enough to work at all.

Well now I think some '73's had the older shafts. Mabey you do. Here are the measurements of mine.
over all - 15 1/4"
between bushings - 10"
between mounting holes - 7 1/4"
from bushing end to thread end - 2 1/2"
I think the threads are 5/8"

7 1/2? Thats wierd. Bondo said his '76 shaft was 7 3/4 between mounting holes and mine is 7 1/4. You sure it's 7 1/2? What is your overall measurement?

Are these mounting measurements c-c? Or inbetween holes? Curious because I'm about to do a swap and thought it was 7 3/4" c-c on my '73.

7 3/4" is the correct center to center dimension on a second gen front sub.

Well mine is 7 3/4 center to center as well, the 7 1/4 in between the holes. You might have it 73BB4. It's still stuck in the arm you say?
Is it 15 1/4" long?
