I think you'll like it. You difinately could save your self some cash buying all the components individually.

Lets go over this. You want subs. Fine. Subs are THE easiest speaker to add to a system. All they do is go boom boom boom. They havea very narrow range of 25-120hz. That isn't even music. What subs do is add volume and move air. You can get a decent amp for $150 or less. Because it's for a sub, you don't need a wide frequency response. You need current capacity and an ability to draw amperage. Subs themselves can cost aslittle as $50ea for decent ones..or $500 ea. Personally, I won't spend more than $75 for a bare sub. VERY few people can really hear any difference. When I was installing high end systems, once the speakers were in the car, I never, ever, had anyone be able to tell the difference. In fact, the best subs we ever used were Pyle's at $40 ea. They had a nice, tight sound, Indestructable and cheap. I actually saw a set play underwater. Wire, mounting kit, another $35. So it seems to me that you are paying a big premium for a premade MDF box. If you wanted, I say you can build your own for about half the cost.

No. Subs can be bought for ~$140-$160 give or take for two.
Amp is good, but is only $227, so that leaves you with over $250 being spent on cables and a box.

Buy your RCA cables and power wires separately.
Most Ebay sets are junk and not true gauge ratings.
RCA cables in packages are typically unshielded garbage.

I disagree with you Ace. I've heard those subs and they sounded surprisingly good for a shallow mount sub.

Everyone has to remember that he does live in Alaska. That could pose issues with availability and shipping.

You're in the military right? I'm sure there is someone on base that could help ya cut up and assemble the box.

Sub box is only $90.
For that price, just buy it.

I say buy it all separately and save some loot.
Or, you can send me the difference and I'll buy it all
for you if you like to just give $$ away.

I made it sound worse then I meant. To me , subs are subs.
Just be sure to balance them or it doesn't matter how good they are.

Have to disagree, doing stereo systems for many years, 20 to be exact, subs are not subs. Trust me, brands do make all the difference. I have used pretty much everything. Smoked a few also. Quality branded stuff is the way to go on subs. Or you will have premature sub failure or really nasty sound.

well id like to add, if your in an extended cab, chevy, under that back seat, it is a pain to make your own box, that will sound good. i have a home made one, and looked like a really hard box to make. The cheapest box i could find around here for my truck will cost me $300, no subs, wires or anything just the box. Rip off i said, so i bought two L7's in boxes, and put them on top of my back seat. I don't recommend doing this, no room for anyone.

If we're talking flea market or Sony & Pioneer Walmart stuff, yes I agree.

But I'm talking middle of the road,
Of course, each listener varies, but you can't compare a 20 year veteran stereo guru
to say a 24 year old just looking for some boom boom added to their system.
Your levels of acceptance are FARRRRR from the same.

I'm sure you can recommend some great products though. Not discounting this.
