Finally went racing today...what a suprise I had!

Well I finally got to go racing today!!!

It was the first time out with the new suspension and traction bars....and what a difference!

Last year I was never able to run anything faster than a 14.0. SO i was hoping for a 14.7ish time today.....but to my suprisethe first run off the trailer was a 13.41 at 102.6 mph!!!!!

I was ecstatic! The car ran awesome today and out of 10 runs the slowest the car ever went was 13.56.

I was spinning badly off the line and when i hit second gear so I know with a set of slicks and some adjustments to my shocks I could shave a few tenths off...who know maybe a 12.9X isnt too far of a goal to reach for!

I know this is slow for some of you guys, but this is only my second year as a driver and Im getting faster and more consistent every pass almost!

Well I didnt win any trophy or money but that didnt matter to me as I had a blast and have a new burst of energy to get the car goin even faster!

P.S. Ill post some pics up when I get them from the g/f

.

Slow doesn't mean jack. It's yours and that's all that matters.

Go have fun, be safe and who cares what the next guy has, says or thinks.

As I always say, now your hooked, and say good bye to most of your money.

Impressive isnt all about fast. Lots of guys run low 10's with a 572 in a 3000# potato chip car. They arent even in the same league as a guy who can run mid 12's with a 307 2 barrel in a 3500# car. I own a low 10 second 3400# street car with a real mild 427 bigblock in it on a stock chassis.I guess that kind of impressive. I also feel that it is equally impressive that I ran 12.90's with my 3400# car with a 9.8:1 408 with stock camel hump heads, and a cam so mild it idles like stock. Impressive is just as much about having a low 13 second car that you can drive everywhere as it is about having an 8 second car that needs a trailer. Good luck with your setup. BTW,I have been mid 9's(on the hit)on slapper bars with 10" wide E.T. streets,so if you want some secrets about how to make it bite let me know.

The drug of drag racing is seeing the next lowest time, if you run 13.xx you want to see a 12.99, then an 11.99....and so on. It is way too addicting!!!

IMHO, consistantly running the same time with the same reaction time will win more races than a sometimes fast car with terrible reaction time.

I had a small business with my dad, whom hated my racing addiction ~ he once asked how I thought my life would be had I never raced

Cal Tracs, adjustable Shocks, and some Sticky tires and I'd bet you'd be finding High 12's

Great Times!! Be careful out there!!

WELCOME to our addiction!! LOL

Good Job man, keep it up, get yourself a practice tree. It greatly helps with reaction times.

Thanks for the encouraging words everyone! As promised I will post some pics up, but Ive been sooo busy the last few days at work so I havent had any energy to when I get home!

I was very proud of my times this last weekend. I do 99% of the work on the car my self and when I see it go that much faster in one season I feel extremely proud of what I accomplished. This is a great community of crusiers and racers alike so I wanted to share my triumphs with everyone!

-.100 domed speed pro forged pistons
-Dart Iron Eagle Platinum heads 200cc 64cc chambers (no work done to them yet)
-comp cams xe268 flat tappet hydraulic cam
-harland sharp roller rockers
-wiend dual plane intake
-hooker super comp headers ceramic coated
-edelbrock 750cfm carb
-2500 stall torque converter

Chasis:
-subframe connectors
-all new bushings
-QA1 single adjustable shocks in front
-Rancho single adjustable shocks in rear
-Competition Engineering Traction Bars
-New 5 leaf hd springs in rear

I did not play with the suspension at all as far as tuning yet, so I may be able to get some better times yet especially with a set of sticky tires.

My 60 foots ranged from 2.05-1.96ish

That is a strong engine, you shouldn't be surprised it ran that well, and I'm sure you can get a lot more out of it too. Cool!
