Car won't move under it's own power in any of the forward gears or reverse. I THINK I have the shifter cable connected correctly, vacuum modulator is hooked up, detent cable is disconnected. Is there anything else I'm missing?

How does the transmission fluid look and smell? If it won't move in any gear, I hate to tell you the obvious, but it sounds like the transmission is shot.

first off, make sure you have fluid in the trans. if you do diconnect the neutral safty switch and, go under the car and manual shift the trans into gear try to start the car in gear. if that doesn't work drop the trans pan change filter and refill.

Are you sure the converter is bolted to the flexplate?

Cardinal--I'm truly hoping that tranny isn't shot. I got it "professionally" rebuilt at a shop that was supposed to have a good rep. Of course, right after I laid all the cash out, I started hearing complaints from other guys, that the place did slipshod work. Fluid is new, and is the good stuff. It is not burnt or dark or anything.
79--NSS is not connected.
Warped--Yep, flexplate & converter are indeed connected.
