You have to enjoy the actual working on the project or it's just not worth it.

I have been debating about putting the Z28 stripes on when I paint it. Do you think they would clash with the vinyl top?

I would have him paint it with the front end sheet metal off. That's the way the factory did it anyway. It is going to be impossible to keep the overspray off everything on the front suspention, brakes, engine ect. HE can roll the car into the spray booth and wrap plastic around the entire front subframe, firewall ect and tape it off tight all together. HE will need to tape the sides of the front subframe, the rear and springs ect. Even if its a metallic color,he should be able to make it all flow even if he knows what he is doing. e should be using the same color primer all over the car,and he should be putting a drop coat of base on it before the clear,so the metallic should be totally uniform. Also,I would have him leve the entire car taped up while he wet sands and buffs it because that crap gets everywhere.

Thx Rich, but I think I didn't word my question in clear form.
Since I am making it an Z28 clone, I was thinking of leaving the stripes off due to me keeping the vinyl top, because I was thinking there would be too much black on the blue and the stripes wouldn't look good with the vinyl top? I haven't seen a pic of an Z w/ a vinyl top.

the black stripes would look awesome with the vinyl top, IMO....
I had a '71 , dark charcoal gray, stripes, vinyl top...it looked awesome! If you would want to see a pic, pm me....the photo is old and very grainy...but you'll get the idea...

Really nice ride man. Hope you find someone who will take care of it and finish it.
