Phenolic Carb Spacer , Solid ?

Does anyone know if the Phenolic spacers are solid , 1 inch ?. I am looking to drill and tap one for a Air temperature sensor on a FAST setup . I would like to stay away from aluminum as it might influence the reading . Plus the phenolic ones are much cheaper.

Doesn't matter if youscrew the iat into aluminum. We tap them into intakes all the time.

Cool thanks for the info. Rick have you experimented with placement at all ?. Or do you just pick a runner and place were it is not going to get in the way . I am going to run a Victor E EFI intake on a SBC . I was only thinking of a spacer because I relocated the one on my 94 LT1 and did drop the reading . Granted the stock location is right on top of the radiator .
