Pics needed to help make decisions...

first, late 2nd gens with the hotchkis TVS system.

second, late 2nd gens with 17" wheels, such as TTII's.

im coming to grips with the fact that if i want my car to handle im gonna have to lower it somehow, and also the fact that the performance i want will not be possible with 15" wheels. so out with the classic look and in with the fun...

thanks guys.

Not exactly a late 2nd gen, but almost. In this pic from 18 months ago -Hotchkis springs front and back (fronts cut 3/4 coil) and 17" BMW rims...

Now has 18" black/silver rims, and I think the springs have settled a tiny bit more...

dont have a late model 2nd gen, but do have the hotchkis tvs, & 17" wheels, and the ride quality and handling is great imo.

This is the side profile of my car after the full Hotchkis TVS system installed with HPS1000 (bilsteins).

With an LS1 in my engine bay.....
As you can see the front end was like 2" too high.
So I cut one full coil off......that idea failed miserably.
So I had to order Coil Spring Isolators to bring it back up halfway.

BTW those are 17" Centerline rims too.

Again not a late 2nd gen. Mine is a stock suspension with 3/4 coil cut.

Fronts 17x8 - 4 3/8bs and 245/45/17
Rear 17x9 1/2 - 5.5bs and 285/40/17

Yep older 5/6/7/8 series wheels with the lower <20 offset is what you want..

(mine long gone for 18"s...... )

BEWARE - The rear Hotchkis leafs do lower the car substantially, the top of the tire barely clears the fender lip.
So if you want the sticky-out ol' school wheel n' tire combo these probably will not be for you..

Here's my '77 running the autocross last year. No Hotchkis, but 17's all around. If I were to do it again (and I might), I'd go 18" on the rear.

Thanks! It needs some REAL suspension work. I took the cheap way out and just cut the springs. I follow threads like yours pretty close to see what other are doing and how they like it so that when the time comes .......

Oh, and you will be amazed at what just going to 17's or bigger will do for your handling
