I use an ultra high tech prop rod,,,, 1/2 PVC pipe cut to 39" long. It is stored in front of the core support resting on the place where the hood latch and hook (hook removed) and the ends tuck up under the header panel. It stays put there when racing.

I use a cut down hockey stick, keep it in the back seat, or trunk.

Thanks 82 Vettrin...I am looking into shops that can beef up the attachment points on my hood...I'm with you on removing it..I tried by myself but it's too awkward for one person, at least this person...lol...

I have a similiar situation except I've got the Glasstek 4" "bolt on" hood. I was able to use the factory hinges but my radiator core support was completely removed along with the hood latch mechanism. Same situation as you, I needed to have my hood pop up after I removed the hood pins so I could lift the hood up and prop it open. I researched through the Grainger catalog and found some springs that were perfect in size, length and strength that fit over the hood pins and pushed my hood up just enough to clear the forward valance panel. Also, instead of using a prop rod, I extended the hood hinges to the full up position and drilled a hole in each of the hinges so I can use a quick release pin to lock the hood in the up position. Then I welded a mount plate with 2 holes to store the pins under the hood when not in use. I don't use springs of any kind on the factory hinges with fiberglass hoods. My experience with light weight hood hinge springs is, over time they will warp the hoods and bow them up. Sorry I don't have any pic's of it, the front clip is off the car right now. Hope this helps, Rob
