$499 ls1 turbo kit on ebay?

ive been planning my 5.3 4l60e swap on my 76 for a while and i ran across this kit on ebay. how close would this come to working on a second gen. the way the headers look im guessin the driver side header mounts backward? and it said the turbo mounts in front of the motor.

Just make sure you use a good turbo! I know several people in the LS world who have bought those kits and a cheap turbo off of ebay and regret it... While it is possible to build a budget setup, you need a good turbo! "You get what you pay for" holds true in this... do you have any idea how many RPMs a turbo spins?? The tolerances and bearings have to be right, or you will end up with a nice doorstop...

If I recall, the header piping is very thin and cracks. It might have been a different kit. Still a good deal though and you can always brace them a bit.

i kno w a few people that have gotten turbo kits..for hondas, chevys, fords,..about everything really..most the turbos aint worth the box there shipped in..made in china or some junk..bearings fry quick..oil dont flow through right..lotta stuff..some even had broken turbines and shafts..but imean its a good deal versus other ones..personally id get my own turbos and get some headers built(or buy them..not to expensive) everything else is easy as far as the IC piping and downpipes

The EBAY intercooler is actually decent for the money, the piping isn't bad, it's the headers/manifolds from EBAY that are suspect, and turbo's as well. If you clicked on the link this is just for the headers/piping, you supply your own turbo. I here people talk about broken turbines and what not but have never seen one except that picture of the "glued" on housing that came apart that floated around the net that everyone references. I know a few people on turbomustangs running ebay turbo's just for fun and a friend of mine in Orlando has one and has been working fine without problems for 1.5 years + now. Some have shaft play and some need oil restrictors/seals but they work. I wouldn't suggest them as you can get a Borg Warner unit new for around $600 or so right now.
