Stall'n
my converter is a fairbanks [5000]....so i'm told...i know it is a fairbanks'97 converter...i called them to inquir about the stall speed[couple years back]...and was told that the part # i gave them was not a shelf item... custom cnvrt..anyways..the car pulls off normal[with a little stall]..not quite 1500..but can foot stall the car to 4200 before tires start to break im sure it would be higher with trans break set higher..[that was with the 388]..i know the torque of the motor plays a big roll in this...but a big block 496 what should initial stall be[guesstimate] 110 centerline sld/ roller cam/about 10.8/9 compression with a3800-4100 cnvrtr...?? just curious

My 3,500 +/- ACC converter flashed 4,100 with the 383 and 5,000 with the 408.

With my PTC 4500 it would stall to 5k in my old setup. We will see next weekend. I leave at 3000 on a two step though. car can't handle 5000 launch.

There is never too much stall speed, only not enough peak engine RPM.

Or to put it another (better) way, one of my customer's runs a 565 BBC that sees a 175 big shot kit from time to time. Stall speed (w/o 2 step activated) is 6200, there doesn't seem to be any operational issues. Shift point is in the 7500 area.
