The Beast gets rewired finally

D-Day has arrived.

I was too overwhelmed with electrical because I fried my harness when I was 21 when I bought this car in 1995. Then I ripped it out in 1997.....and couldn't figure out how to put the NEW Painless harness into the car. So I dragged it with me as a broke / partying 20 something year old for 5 more years, no harness in it. Then finally got my cousins husband to rewire it.....but he completely FUBAR'd it and hid it. He wired in my OLD harness to the NEW fuse panel. I didn't know this until AFTER the LS1 was put in , because he loomed everything nicely, but it was a frankenstein botch job.

So after 14 years of waiting, and me finally learning the ropes on electrical and reading the schematics and overcoming my fears of wiring, I'm gutting the f'n pig again. This time I think I know what I'm doing ( I hope ) and the Highway 22 kit from American Auto Wiring is going into it this time with the LS1 / 4L60e. I'm marking anything that I can't identify for later. So far it's only been a few hours today and it's almost gutted. Wish me luck.

Here we go again!!!!!

LS1 Connections - The ECM is going to be put right here instead of under the hood too.

Remember, if you get frustrated walk away for abit. Have a beer or something. Wiring is easy if you take your time and for the love of god please clean those sidepipes.


BTW, it that a Cutlass next to the maro?

Okay, finally completed gutting it.
Now ....I have to run the new harness and start crimping, soldering, and heat shrinking next weekend.

If you google "Cobalt Gauges" you will see my gauge bezel is the #1 hit.

Yeah, just bought it off my Uncle in North Carolina in May 2009.
Got it for a steeeeeeal.

She's done, just waiting on reupholstered seats completion.
Blew close to $4,000 so far on that one, so the Camaro has been due for attention.
BTW - Sidepipes are getting powdercoated .....the chrome just doesn't hold up to the winter.

I'm hoping Parts Place gets my new seat spring assembly within 2 weeks.

IIRC those are negatively grounded and will require some special attention to wiring.....
as is the wiper motor.....I have pics to post to ask WTF on.....
