80-81 Z28 Hood or Cowl hood on 79 Z

Well i have been looking and would like to get a functional hood and am not sure which to get. I was planning on a cowl hood but im not a fan of how they look from the front since they look so straight and square. But the 80-81 I like them to but i just dont want to seem like im trying to clone the car into somthing its not. But it would be a GM hood and would fit alot better than an aftermarket cowl. I want to keep the body of my z looking pretty much stock other than the hood. I had an idea about how to tie in the 80-81 hood to my Z and wanted to get opinions of which you would choose. 2" steel cowl or 80-81 Air Induction. Thanks. -Matt

Definately the 80-81 air induction.I wouldn't worry about that clone thing.Your car already is a Z.I'm not a fan on how those cowl hoods look.

I like them but they look to blocky from straight on. Thats just my thoughts. They look awesome from all other angles. The air induction hood is my 2nd favorite stock hood for second gens. But i just didnt wanna take away from the car too much. I think the Air induction would keep it looking more stock than a cowl tho. -Matt

Air induction hood by far was the best hood for the Camaros.

Go for the 80 hood. You can't go wrong with it!

I have been doing alot of research on the 80-81 hoods and hoave saved about 8 pictures of 79s with them. I am definatly going with the Air Induction. Just wondering tho... How hard is it to hook up the hood flapper? Thats somthing i would want to do also. Thanks -Matt

I think it is just a solenoid that attaches to a switch on throttle. I know it all can be bought thru any of the suppliers. I really thought about this before I painted my car.
