I know I already made a mistake buying these Patriot heads a while back.
Here is the issue and the pics:
1) Motor was losing about a 1 inch level of coolant in the radiator after a 15 or 20 mile drive in warm weather.
2) Motor or rest of cooling system has no visible leaks, except for a small leak at the thermostat housing.
3) Upon inspection, intake and head gaskets were sealing properly and showed no signs of any leakage.
4) Car has sat as long as two months at a time, but that does not explain how the coolant level goes down so much after a short drive.
5) I use a mixture of mostly coolant with a little water. I had to level it out after drives.
5) Surface rust in all eight combustion chambers.
Any ideas? Thanks, Dean.
