Z75 Progress thread
Figured that I might as well start a progress thread, even though I've been working on this car for years; and have owned for over twenty years.
It's a 75 Camaro, factory 350 / 4 speed car / posi rear
Currently: (Have done the following in the last couple years)
Drive train: ZZ4 create engine, Barry Grant carb, Header headers, MSD 6al box. 4 speed Muncie M20 trans, Hays street / strip clutch assembly, stainless steel fuel lines, new gas tank
Suspension: : Hotchkis front & rear springs, Hothckis front sway bar and rear sway bar, global west tubular UCA, factory lowers, GW Del-U-Lum bushings, GW solid body mounts, Alston SFC's and g-braces, Baer brakes all around, SC&C Lee 670 steering box, 16inch TTII"s and Dunlop Sport tires.
Interior:Mostly stock, cloth seat inserts, new door panels, Billet Specialties steering wheel, Apline radio / CD player, Kenwood dash speakers, Infinity rear speakers
Body: Paint is "Ford Bright Red", factory color from the 70's (yes I know, Ford), painted in 1987, stripes added a few years ago. Cut, tucked and powder coated bumpers. L88 hood, custom "one of a kind" emblems
Current projects:
Working on a Vintage Air System, just installed a Billet Specialties serpentine system last week, in order to mount the compressor (pics). Also have a new a/c dash, and console to install during the process.
Have all new stainless brake lines and proportion valve to still do.
Thinking of powder coating additional molding / trim to match bumpers. Also considering 17 inch gray center wheel such as Vintage Wheel works V40's or V48's
Hoping to put the car in the body shop by the end of this year for new paint; have spent the last few months collecting body parts, mostly from other members on this site . (driver,s door, upper valance, mirrors, floors). Will repaint the same color & similar stripe, but may replace the hood (thinking the C/F Bulge hood)
Here's a few pics

Another big bumper car! Very clean Mike...I love the L88 hood with the single black stripe. You nailed the stance too...perfect. Where'd you get the custom emblems done?

Thanks, the paint is about 20 years old, the pics hide a lot. Right after repainting many years ago, this car was my daily driver for about 4 years, became a "2nd car" for a number of years, then sat (outside) for about 5 years. Those 5 years of sitting under a cover was hard on the paint.

Thank you. Got the emblems from here http://www.mastach.com/
They have some cool z28 emblems as well, a knock off of the z06 emblems.
Here's a close up of mine

The bumpers are powdercoated metalic silver, with a clear coat over top. Kind of looks like cast aluminum, but shiny!! Looks really good in person, but doesn't look so good in pics.
My plan is to powdercoat the windshield trim (front and rear), to match. I may also go with gray center wheels to match as well.
As far as the hood, I'm split right now between the L88 and the bulge hood.

Decided to get moving on the Vintage Air system, before summer ends. After getting all of the brackets for the kit back from powder coating, I assembled the condenser / dryer and hard lines for installation.
Come to find out, the condenser is made for a core support with a 26" opening; mine has a 21" opening. The Tech guy at Vintage Air was very responsive, but long story short, they had no idea (and neither did I) that there were two different core support opening sizes for the 2nd gen Camaro.
Vintage Air offered to send a smaller condenser that would fit (6 inches shorter), and redo the hard lines for me but I decided to cut out a bigger hole in the core support instead. Was afraid of lowering the cooling capacity of the system. I think I'll go ahead and powder coat the support while it's out.
