water temp gauge

I need some help with wiring my water temp gauge. I have an 81 camaro that I removed the computer from. According to the wiring diagrams I have, the water temp was routed through the computer. I was thinking about buying one those converted oil pressure gauges from a member, that way I will not have any gauges mounted to my console.

The emission control computer temp sensor isn't connected connected to your gauges so you shouldn't have a problem. If your car already has the U14 gauges you should be good to go.

Are you talking about installing the oil pressure gauge from Gauge Marks? If so, good move. Daniels gauge will look factory and work a whole lot better than the craptastic clock that GM fitted.

gaugemark gauges

I going to use gaugemark. I have never liked having extra gauges mounted in the car. I want to keep the clean look in the interior. The temp gauge had 2 wires that went to the sending unit, so I am going to have to track them down. Thanks for the help.

The coolant temp sender for your computer should mounted on the intake manifold near the thermostat and have two wires connected (yellow and black). The sender for your dash gauge will be screwed into one of the heads near an exhaust port and have a single green wire connected.

If your car didn't come with the full gauge pack (U14) then you'll have to change the temp sender on the head to make it work. ($15 max)
