I Got An Itch...
... To start working on the camaro. I get them from time to time but they never amount to anything.
This time, I will actually do stuff to the car. Since I only work 1 job now.
Time line to start this project is Beginning of June. Will put the car back on the road (insurance wise) end of this month.
My current status of the car & specs > http://teamzx2.com/showthread.php?t=12013
My goal is basically to get the bodywork done, and paint the whole car in black epoxy primer. I don't want to paint
the car base/clear until I finish all the extreme mods. Which those require a house with a garage. So the car will have
a solid body til I get around to that.
Then it's a bunch of cleaning stuff up, painting, installing a few parts here and there. yadda yadda
Goal: Keep under or close to $1000 spent
A Chop I did a few months ago.
The List Of Things To Do:
[ ] - Shave fender lights
[ ] - Shave Fender to Lower Fender Seam
[ ] - Install Z/28 Fender Scoops
[ ] - Remove All Trim and Paint Black
[ ] - Tint Tails
[ ] - Remove Internal Door Bar (weight savings)
[ ] - Fix Broken Window Roller
[ ] - Sound Deaden The Doors
[ ] - Finish Welding Cage Plates to the Floor
[ ] - Sound Deaden Interior
[ ] - Fix stripped Seat belt Hole
[ ] - Remove and Re Seal Rear Windshield
[ ] - Re Undercoat Trunk
[ ] - Drop Axle and Paint
[ ] - Install Aluminum Diff Cover
[ ] - Swap Rear Coil-Over springs with a lighter lb Spring or Modify Top Mount and angle them inward
[ ] - Do a Massive Burnout on Video to destroy Rear Tires
[ ] - Install Smaller Dia Rear Tires
[ ] - Paint Center of Rims Black
[ ] - Slam The Rear of The Car
[ ] - Undercoat the rear of car
[ ] - Remove Inner Fenders and Paint Them
[ ] - Pull Front Suspension to Re Paint
[ ] - Remove Power steering and Install S-10 Manual Rack
[ ] - Install Ford Taurus Electric Fans/Remove Clutch Fan
[ ] - Install Electric Water Pump Conversion Kit
[ ] - Install better Plug Wires
[ ] - Upgrade or Buy Distributor
[ ] - Install MSD 6AL Box
[ ] - Install Better Dual Feed Carb Line
[ ] - Weight Reduction on Front Inner Bumper
[ ] - Degrease and Paint Engine Bay
[ ] - Sandblast Headers
[ ] - Install Header Wrap
[ ] - Jamb The Car in Epoxy
[ ] - Paint Car in Epoxy
[ ] - Wrap Interior Panels and Install
[ ] - Make a Rear Seat Delete
[ ] - Have 20% Tint Installed
[ ] - Oil Change
[ ] - New Rear Fluid
[ ] - New Tranny Fluid
I think that is about it, what I can remember off the top of my head. Will add and remove things as time goes along.
End this post with the current picture and what will become the before shot

This post I'll update with parts I'm getting
My Rear Delema, main goal is to lower it
Quote:
If I put new springs in the rear, I'm looking at 100-125lb Springs. Have 175lb now and my coil-overs are turned as low as they go. So I can always go up about 4 or more inch if need be.
QA1 125lb Springs $37.88
or
Something Similar to these. Since Mine are already up and down. I'm gonna prolly end up making new brackets to angle them inward. This will intern lower the spring rate effectiveness and help stabilize my rear better from side to side.
Shock Mounts $13.99
|
Rear Diff Cover
Quote:
Prolly spend a about $10 more to have moser's name on the cover instead of summit. FYI to those who read that, I also have Moser axles. Will be a good addition to make my rear pretty much fully built.
Moser Engineering $159.95
|
Header Wrap
Fan Relay Kit
Ignition Stuff
Pack of Secondary Springs
Quote:
This allows me to adjust when they open up. I currently only have 3 springs, this kit has 4 others for a better range of rpms to choose from
Holley Springs $11.99

If anyone has ideas for a cheaper route to take on certain parts, please chime in.

No, still a street car. Just not a daily driver. I mainly drive it in the summer months and when it's not raining like hell. Mostly due to the car has some small issues I need to deal with. When I finish all this, I'd prolly drive it more often. Maybe year round except for snow.
What made you think it's no longer a street car?

fan realy kit: you can run a northern 180 temp switch that just sits in your heads or intake and run a ground wire to it from your relay, and it will only cost you 40 bucks for the relay and the temp switch! we sell them here at the shop all the time!

Thanks, I knew there was a cheaper way of doing it. But it's been a long time since I've browsed this forum let alone visited on a regular basis.

My buddy blasted my steering box for me. I threw some paint on it yesterday.
About to order from summit
Poly sway bar bushings, greasable
poly endlinks
del-a-lum upper & lower control arm bushins
header wrap and ties
new rad hoses
water restrictiors for running the electric water pump
painless kit for the water pump
duel feed carb line
$600 worth before tax and shipping
I have to wait on a few things til I see off some of my zx2 parts and buy a cowl hood for room. Then I'll get a carb spacer, and new air cleaner.

sept 5-13 I will be off of work (only missing 4 days which I have vacation time for). Why you ask? Because I will be turning my dad's garage into a paint booth and painting the camaro. I have about 78days til then to get the body straight and finish/start the underhood project.
Still undecided on color...
