I need pics of an engine cradle with no body side motor mounts installed (bolt holes)
I have a 76 Firebird that is getting an SBC chevy (maybe this weekend if I finally get off my butt and start putting this car together). The transamcountry guys are telling me that a 76 will not be drilled for the chevy bolt holes, since only 77+ pontiacs could have SBC power from the factory. Can someone show me a close up pic of the engine cradle of a 2nd gen camaro, both with the motor mount installed, and without the body side mount, so I can pattern where my new holes need to be drilled?
Thanks
Steve

No way to hang it in with the mounts bolted up and lower it in then just mark the holes after a lil weight is put on it ?

I can do that but I want it to be in the stock location so I don't screw up driveshaft length. I would have to have the trans AND shaft in the car with the engine to mark it then, which I can do I suppose...

I have done this before Steve... I used the rear trans mount to reference the MM locations...

the rear trans mount I have for 2nd gens has a slot about an inch long so there is a lot of variability there. I can mock it up this weekend w/ the engine in the car and see how it looks. I have the fenders off anyway so it will be easy to get in and out

I love the fork on the newspaper! That frame does look clean enough to eat off of!

Does that 73 frame pictured above use the same body side clamshell mounts as 74-81?
