Tubbing the camaro

I am thinking about doing this this this winter and want to know if anyone that has already done it has any before during and after pictures I could look at to see what I have to do exactly. Also wondering about the cost??? I was thinking about just bringing it to someone and having them do the work and make my 8 point cage a 10 or 12 point. If I was to bring it somewhere and have it done anyone have a guess about how much $$ it would cost? And last is there anyone on this board that is in my area(upstate NY) who would, could do this or any recomendations for somewhere to bring it to have it done? Thanks guys. If I do this there will be a brand new 8.5 rear w/ richmond 4.10's and eaton posi for sale/ trade, new springs(5 leaf), SSM lift bars, brand new gas tank. Would also give to the person doing the work as partial payment.

Bruce,

I know of a few people in the area, but would bet its too late to get it done this winter. These guys usually are booked for winter by the end of summer.

Pricing really depends on the person and what they are going to do for you. (who removes interior, is the rear shortened or do they have to do it, is it a rear clip kit or custom fab, etc.) I would think somewhere around $2000 is a good starting place for labor though. (maybe less since the economy is rough around here right now)

Email me if you want some names and #'s.

$2000. might cover the labor.
If you are talking a true back-half job
(frame rails, ladder or 4 link, coil overs),
you can probably count on at least $4000.
This could change depending on rear end,
sheet metal, etc. Also, if you plan to race
this car, be sure you and the fabricator know
the requirements to certify the cage and frame, both the welding and materials used.

I believe the last time I checked on it here it would cost me between $4000-5000 to have it done. But the above price doesn't include tires and rims.

IMO, $4000-5000 in just labor is on the high side for a back-half. Its tough to put a price on the complete job without knowing more info. Hell, I bet you could drop $3000 on just the rear end alone.

I have seen quite a few nice rollers go for between $5000 and 7500. Then you get to have two cars

That price included narrowing your rear end and all of the metal/aluminum to finish the job.

$250.00?
You either owe him money or hes your brother in-law!
That amount won't cover the welding wire spool!

Thanks for all the replies, I see its gonna be expensive, but I think it will be well worth the money spent.

I have to ask myself, with the money involved at what point do you just start to look for a car that has this done to it already? You never get your money out of these things, I love my project. May as well take advantage of someone elses expense and see if you can save?.

I thought about that, but I already have so much time and muney wrapped up in my car that I can't afford to start another project. The way I see it, if I end up having 10-15 grand in it when its all done, its still cheaper than you could buy a new car, or get another like what I would have.

As Far as the rear frame section goes would I be better off ordering a 4 link kit, or having someone make all the stuff(anyone know the best place to order a 4 link rear frame set-up)
