Smile Hood Latch Color on 74 Z28

Does anyone know what color was the hood latch area on a 74 Z28? Was it a zinc phosphate coating?

Thanks,
George

Cool

Thanks Thnder for the information. I thought that was the correct color. Does anyone besides Eastwood sell zinc phosphate?

George

George, Eastwood sells a PAINT that simulates ZINC Phosphate. I must admit (as a judge) that a few people are very good at applying these PAINTS, but most look like paint.

If you are restoring a valuble real nice Camaro, and want things correct GOOGLE Phosphate Plating in your area, and have everything done correctly.

If you dont care, use misc cast blast and phosphate PAINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

George, the Eastwood paints work well through a Air Gun, thin the coating down with thinner and spray very light. The other way is to box all your bolts, screws,Hood hinges, latches, anything that needs to Phosphates and and send them to Steve Gregori, he base in California and the turnaround is very fast.

Cool

Rick,

Thanks for the information. I will probably send my parts to Steve down in California for him to plate them sometime this year. I sent him my original Z28 diverter valve to re-plate it for me about 2 weeks ago and I did not realize that he did zinc phosphate plating till today when I saw his ad in the Hemmings Magazine.
