My lowered 72 Placer Gold graduation present
This car was bought by my mother in 1972. Custom ordered direct from the factory with all options except a clock. I became the second owner after my college graduation. Here is a pic of it at a local Fbody meet before any mods:
I found 3 builds sheets in the usual locations. Pic of the best one:
Original documents:
The brochure that led to the purchase:
GW upper and lower A-arms w/ poly greasable bushings
QA1 coilovers
Factory front sway
Hotchkis tie rod sleeves
The rest of the steering linkage and brakes are factory replacement
CE SFCs bolt on
Hotchkis leaf springs
Drop blocks
KYB shocks
Goodridge SS brake lines
Suspension:
And the ground clearance....or lack thereof.
This pan should work better for that (stock capacity):

Wheels
Cragar soft 8s
17x8 4.5"bs 245/40-17
17x9 5"bs 275/40-17
The stance
Previous owner knocked off the original front lip, so here is a pic of the replacement OER. Damn female drivers! JK, mom!
New plug wires nice and organized. I also start my weatherstripping. I took the piece that usually runs along the hood and ran it along the cowl linking it to the two smaller pieces. I want to see if this seals better by having one long piece along the cowl rather than 3 pieces in different locations.

I Love the progress pics and especially think it's great that you have a family heirloom given to you as a graduation present! Congratulatons for finishing College!
It looks like the car is in great shape to begin with and that you will have much fun "personalizing" it to your specifications and much more fun driving it!
I have to comment on the flooring in the photos! Looks great but is that in a carport or garage?

The car is in great shape. I have the usually front quarters rust, but those have been taken care of. You'll see this when I get around to posting the weatherstripping and body pics later on.
The house in the pics was built in the 50s, so that is a tiled carport.

Looking good, dude, love the stance but I feel for your headers already That color is great, if you repaint it you should definitely stick with it.

Definately a lot of sentimental value.

I have no love for those cheap summit headers. Plus, I can weld. lol If it becomes a constant problem, I'll definately look into some shorties like what Patriot sells.
As for the paint, I plan on sticking with the Placer Gold but of course in an updated clearcoat/basecoat.

?? is the car driveable right now? I only ask beacuse I am about to install the same front suspension that you have and I'm kinda worried about speed bumps etc. has it been an issue for you?

It's driveable, but I haven't driven it since it was in stock form back in September. Since then, it's been under construction, but I'm getting ready for a test run soon. I just need to finish the passenger fender rust repair and swap out that trans pan first. I'll give everyone an update after the first drive.
