1973 LT Side Mouldings
I sent my 1973 LT (fender, door, quarter) side mouldings into a shop in NY and they estimated the repair work to strip annodizing, metal work, and sand/polish at $600. Is it just me or is that nuts? Does anyone know where I can buy these moldings new? Anyone have some decent ones for sale?

So for $600 they're going to strip it and then what ? Just polish aluminum ?
Does that include any dent removal ?
eff that.
You can strip the finish yourself.
I believe someone said Easy-off worked pretty good. But search the board for that - don't take my word for it.
For less than 1/4 the cost you can buy a grider/polisher and some polishing bonnets and do the work yourself.
How bad of shape was your in ??

I totally agree with Wayne. I removed mine, and used a round tipped punch, and worked any small dings out from the back side. I used a piece of wood to sit the pieces on.
Also you can strip the anodize off with heavy duty oven cleaner. That's what I used and it worked fine. I then scuffed mine, and my painter shot them with single stage satin black. Previously, I had polished one of the pieces with a polishing wheel. It turned out great, but didn't want to have to maintain it.

I will admit there is about $200 worth of needed metal work as the moldings are fairly pitted but $400 to strip and polish, damn. I used Eastwood annodize remover on my window moldings, polished them with Meguiars metal polish and they look great. I guess it just isn't worth the money. I will just sand and polish mine as best I can and put them on.

NY is expensive because of the price to use and get rid of the chemicals used. my plate shop is in NY but there factory is in NJ because of the expenses for use of chemicals.

I have to finish the rear window moldings but I will take some pics as soon as I can. It may be a week or so. Sorry about the wait.
