73 FireChicken IS ALIVE 5/8/10
Since I'm asking alot of questions and having to post pics I figured I would just start a post over here and stop linking to other ones.
Used to own a 1970 Bird back in high school. Long story short... Melted 3 pistons sold car and regretted it ever since. So 20 years later I see this 73 thats close to me on ebay for cheap. Midlife crisis, bored in the sticks, I dont know exactly the reasons. But I buy it and start my project.
Im in no hurry. Planning 2-3 years or more till its done. Going to be a driver on nice days and some weekends. Maybe drag race once or twice just to see what she will do.
Stripping it down all the way. Replaceing all brakes, suspension, lines, mounts ect. Going to do everything myself if possible.
1. get it stripped
2. Fix the holes where it leaks inside the car.
3. Fix the holes in floor and trunk
4. paint/undercoat bottom of car.
5. Install subframe after sandblast and paint.
6. suspension, brakes and rearend.
7. thats as far as i have planed

Cool, ya gonna T/A clone it? Or leave it a normal bird?
I've got a 71 Bird BTW.

Looks cool, keep up the good work
I had a 1970 Formula 400 in high school, got rear ended, then made it into a stock car. Wish I still had it.

bwak, bwak, bwak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like it. Cant wait to see it done. I'd throw those 18in honeycombs on it from Year One. Those are some sweet looking wheels.

Its an Esprit just like my 70 was. I may add the T/A fender vents but not going to add all the other flares and shaker (just more weight and stuff to rip off on our potholes). Really want to customize it some though. maybe speed grills in the front or something like that. Want to make the dash and door panels. Needs to be different.
I really like the Street Scoop with 3 butterflies, so thats prolly what Ill have sticking out the hood hehe. Still throwing around big or small block chevy.
Got a deal on that Saginaw, and its what my old car had too. I went through 3 or 4 clutches on it and poped that thing every gear alot. Never blew the old one up so figured I would give it a shot. if it blows ill go muncie later.

Lookin' good though, keep up the work. I'm about broke so mine has been on hold. Did some work today though.
