First though would be some form of short track where using first is a waste [dirt]and you never get into 3rd. Sounds fun.

I like to hit back twisty roads on my bike where you rarley see the top of 3rd and staying right in the red ;0 Virago was gear factory to run high R's and loves to stay there all day. Folks often ask how to lower the RPM at 55, we tell em to push red and ignore it.

work with me guys !

First off im the driver and alot of terms we are using are like talking a foriegn tounge to me but learning fast. I will make my best attempt to explain.
1)std bore,stock pistons,rods balenced with crank
2)all bearings are clevitte 77
3)circle track oil pan
4)2 brl holly carb
5)flowmaster duel exaust
6)i believe 485 lift on rv cam
7)slot rockers
8)sportsman heads with over size valves not sure of size.
we run on a 1/4 to 3/8 dirt circle track to much horsepower can oftem times hurt you with a 1 legged rearend. My father was the engine man and since passed i have a very good friend doing 99% of the work and doing a great job! would not still be racing without him. We are kinda learning on the fly!
thx again Califgold

still working on an engine for that freedom series in the hobby stock division huh ?? like i mentioned in your previous thread a couple weeks ago i've got a friend who is very competitive in the hoby stock division . he races at bakersfield and victorville and he swears by these vacum rule cams from speedway motors that use the rhoades lifters . with a stock sbc with only the speedway motors cam and a good oiling system he's running about 7000 rpm at the end of the straight .he's running a saginaw 4spd also in 2nd gear and i think the rear gear is a 5 series gear but can't remember the actual gear size

The only difference with this new block and lower end is its not bored .040 the top end will be the same so i guess i hope that ill still be up front. What is the normal hp with a stock 350 with this type of block?
thx again Califgold

id be going for a SB that is factory stroked which wouldn't be a chevy.
First thing ya do to SBC, stroker kit, then BB. Get yourself a stroked factory motor and still be hobby stock. Think BOP, they had stroke factory.

What are the engine rules for that class?
First thing that comes to mind is angle milling the heads and swapping to a 2bbl specific solid flat tappet cam. (relatively) lots of HP to be had there. From there you can spend a pile of money on lightweight parts, porting, etc. Depends on what you want to spend and how legal you want to be.

Factory stroked? Is a 350 a factory stroked 327?
I'd be hard pressed to think of one GM motor that came from the factory with no stroke...

the hobby stock engine ruling is basically a stock 2bbl motor and ignition and has to pull 16"hg of vacum @ idle

these are some of the cams used like what's in my friends hobby stock
