Have a question for you So Cal guys that have seen my car in person
I was at the Pomona show this weekend and went to the Coy's Wheels booth they have there. I saw some rims i really, really like there. I like the old school look of my car with the chrome Rallye rims i have on there now (15 x 7 in front 15 x 8 in rear) but it would be nice to have a new change. Here is a link to the rims i like from Coys:
http://www.coyswheel.com/coys-c55.html
I was thinking about going 17 x 7 in the front and 18 x 8 in the rear. Now the question i have is should i get the grey colored rims they have there pictured on the site that match my car's paint or should i do the same style rim but chrome.
Take a look at my profile pic of my car and tell me what you think.

Jeff,
While I'm all for updating the look of the car (not that I didn't your car looked cool before), not so sure that dark gray wheels on a dark gray car is the way to go. Too monochromatic. Needs some contrast to the color of the car. I'd go polished or satin aluminum.
Also, 17" would be the max I'd go. For some reason on a 2nd gen, wheels bigger than 17" just don't seem to look quite right IMO. If it were my car, I'd do satin aluminum (if that's even an option), 17x8 front and 17x9 rear (or widest that would fit).
BTW, the style of the wheel on your car would look very bad a$$ though.

I agree with you on the grey on grey..I was with my brother at the show and he said the grey would look good.. I was thinking in my mind "are you serious?" but maybe he saw something i didnt..The reason why i started the thread..I wasnt too keen on the different sizes of the rim idea but i did see a first generation Camaro at Pomona with 17's in the front and 18's in the rear and it didnt look as bad as i thought it would. I did see a 2nd gen there with 18's in the front and 20's in the rear and i can tell you, in my opinion, it didnt look right..

Cool looking rim, I think chrome would look better myself. I had a set of polished aluminium rims on my old car and they looked great but were a lot of upkeep. I think something with a good coating or chrome is way easier to clean and maintain.
Here's a pic in chrome:

There are a couple other pics of another car with them on this page:

Since were on the subject of rims...
I have the set of rims shown in this photo for sale.
Set of 15"x8" Corvette rally rims.
15"x8" reproduction Corvette rally rims. They have a 4.5" BS and a uni-lug pattern. I have the trim rings and caps. They are in good shape. These do include the tires. They are 255-60-15 in the rear and 235-60-15 in the front. They still have well over 3/4 of their tread left. I do have all the lugs plus a set of locking lugs. Asking $300 OBO.

Hey Jake. I believe they are 4.5 inch back spacing. The rear tires are 255/60/15 and the fronts are 215/60/15 but the rim is 15 x 7 in front. Tires have less than 3000 miles on them...Let me know if you are interested in them. The rims/tires do not stick out of the fenderwell. I have airshocks in the back and can let all the air out of them and the tires will tuck in the rear..

He ended up buying some just like i have now at the Pomona show. He has a 64 Malibu now and can only go 4 inch backspacing on the rear because its a close fit. He is going with a different center cap though.

Man....Your wheels look good on your car Dave...I know you are pissed off that some people typed crap about your car but you know what..Screw them!!! Im sure most of those people have their cars done by some other mechanic and brag to other people they did the work themselves..LOL...Your car is extremely nice and very tastefully done in my opinion..

Ahhhhh, one of my major pet peeves.
Often times when I suspect that to be the case, I'll start asking probing questions about what they did. Though it's sometimes hard to keep a straight face when I hear some of the asnwers.

Mine too.
I am by no means a 'mechanic' but I do take pride in that I rebuilt both the front and rear suspensions on my 71SS, pulled out the motor and tranny (which I left to the professionals to rebuild), have done all of the body work on it (with still lots to go), plan to install rear disc brakes myself, and so many other tinkering and troubleshooting on it.
I know people who will pay $20K for an already finished car and brag like they restored it. Ok.....

John and Jeff,
Those wheels look great on that car.....it could use a slight body drop though........I concur with everyone the chrome or polished ones......
