Arrow Will a 275 tire work better on a 15x8 or 15x10?

I have a set of 275/50-15 nitto drag radials that I'm going to put on rims. They are about 12" wide at the bulge, 25.75" diameter. Will the tire perform better on a 15x10 rim?

Assuming I find the perfect backspacing and fitment is not a problem.

Thanks!

I think they will work better on the 15X10 rims. The contact patch will be almost bowed on the 15X8 rim and the tire will have more sidewall flex. It can make the rear feel like it is squirmming around when cornering.

A 15 x 10 will lay-out the tread more evenly across while a 15 x 8 will bulge the sidewalls out more in the section width.

If you can fit the 15 x10 within the fenderwells, (Mini-tubs?), there will be a slight bowing of the section from the edge of the tread contact patch out to the rim and have a slightly lower overall height but only a slight bit. Sidewall flex on the 15 x 10 should be substantially less.

From the back, it will look really tough!

What they said ^^^ a 10" will be a safer and more appropriate wheel width for that tire, assuming you can fit a 15x10 in the rear with minimal modification.

Do you know what backspacing your wheels have? How close does the wheel / tire come to the leaf spring?

thanks!

Now it seems it just comes down to if it fits or not!

275/60R15 on a 10" Rim don't bother asking me backspacing, I have a 1st gen 12bolt

If you measure them, they are 12" bulge to bulge and 28" dia, with about 1/2-3/4 room left inward

15x10 with a 5.5" backspace is what you need.

Yea the 60's will rub, when I had taken my shocks off (air shocks) and sat it down the rear tires were close enough that they would rub on bumps. I'd get something with about a 26" dia over the 60's which are 28" dia
