Tranny Help..please
so my i had a leak and found out it was the pan, i installed a new pan gasket and it solved the prob for a week. then today i wake up and dirve and the car wont shift like before?? wtf?? it goes into redline before it hits first...so i assume it needs fluid so i install 2 quarts and no luck and then the car starts smoking because now it leaks again ..so what could it be?? i had a new carb installed and the thing was great yesterday and now its lagging only on first, all my lines are good and tight.
help!!

vacum modulator line, unhooked, leaking or so fourth. Most times its a metal ine with rubber ends coonection, they can split with age or the line can get a rust hole like a brake line.

or just a bad modulator, it controls the low speed shifts, govoner controls wide open shifts, which are allot higher...........
An aftermernet adjustable one is cheap. either red or black strip. I got one and adjusted it so it waits till around 35 before its shifts out of 1st. That way I can leave folks at lights without getting on it. Though if your just real light o nthe pedal it will shift through all 3 at any low speed.

When a mod goes bad they can leak or you'll go low on fluid as the engine is sucking it up. When you get on it real hard you should see smoke if its sucking it up.

ONly if you play with it, will it change anyting over stock, they come preset to stock adjustment. Can't member which way you turn them to lower or increase part throttle shifts......
Sort of like a vacuum advance, ya stick a small screw driver down the vacuum port to adjust.
Just hit ebay or any auto store. same one is used in the th350 350c n 400
"adjustable vacum modulator"

Yes or no, probably hurt tranny first running low, burning ATF really won't hurt, foul plugs maybe.
Its easy to change as long as the bolt comes out. 90% of the time sit siezed in the case and breaks off. Had to buy a 90degree drill bit attachment, used a drill bit to drill it out. Then I used a nut and bolt to re attach rather then fixing threads. If it freezes up in there next time, easier to just cut the bolt and replace........... As it just slides in the trans, there is just like a ear clip like on a dizzy that holds it form falling out. I actualy held mine in with a bunji cord for a few days till drill out.
I wnet round n round with that stuff as I had smoke when on it hard.
Even adding zip ties to make sure rubber ends were on tight.
In the end tunred out to be oil, I had the typical lower intake port leaks when hard in it, sucking oil.

nasty oily pic of my trans, but you can kinda see it. The tab just keeps it from blowing out, just and ear it bolts down to, can see bolt and nut.
Though I got a new trans to install this weekend if weather works with me. No more oily one.
.........

I dunno, they will probably find more to do then that. I hate them places.
Just changing it if the bolt comes out nice, is a 5 min job.
