!!! IN THE MAIL TODAY !!! - ACA / Carlisle Newsletter

I get a letter from the ACA....about joining, and the application for Carlisle 08...

I get inside...just to see what's there....it mentions CAMPING...

And under it:

Quote:
What about Camping?
There are campgrounds nearby, but many attendees - including the "NastyZ/28.com" club, camp on the grounds in the overnight parking/camping area. It is semi-primative but the guys do have a real blast! Log onto www.carsatcarlisle.com. Click on 'GM Nationals', then 'Register', then 'Parking', and complete the appropriate forms.

WOOT WOOT, word for word.....

Also, I didn't notice a 'Nasty Z-28.com' group to register under.....not like I'd change from my 'Not yet ready for prime time' catagory

So if I already pre-registered... what then? I was under the impression we were to register through the ACA... Only way I see to reserve a camping spot is to register through event staff, not the ACA.

I see no changes to either webpage...
http://store.carlisleevents.com/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CE&Product_Cod e=2008-031&Category_Code=CAN4
or registering through the ACA...

We do have to register with the ACA for the "entries" - with OR without a car. The only way to get a campsite is through the folks at Carlisle and you must have a car registered through the ACA. They are still working on the website, but I think you can call them directly at 717-243-7855.

Wayne - is there an orange 71 pictured on it??

I'm hoping to bring my car, but I don't care that it is entered into anything other than a parking space.....fingers crossed that all will still work out as June approaches.

April, not to dispute what you are saying, but there seems to be a lot of confusion about how to arrange camping. Can you help clear this up at all - I seem to recall you being involved with the ACA? I spoke to a Rick or Rich (supposedly one of the fellows responsible for the GM Nationals) with the Carlisle group last week when I was trying to register, and he told me the only way to get a camping spot would be through the ACA website (if I had already pre-registered through the ACA, which I had). He was quite positive that I COULDN'T arrange camping through Carlisle if I had pre-registered through the ACA. Also, he indicated the ACA website should have the appropriate links shortly.

Given this isn't the first time Carlisle has happened, or the first time that camping onsite has occured, why is it so hard to get a straight answer?

Note - I'm not pointing the finger at you April! You seem to know what you're talking about most of the time, so I trust your feedback.

edit - Ok, just checked the ACA site - there is now a link to a PDF form to complete for camping, which you send into the ACA. The form basically states that while Carlisle controls the camping, ACA is accepting payments and applications.

Kirk, there wasn't a problem last year. You could reserve a camping spot online through Carlisle Events last year without having to register a car with them. They changed their website so that the only way to get to the camping registration is to register a car with them FIRST.

One thing to remember is that we are probably the ONLY car event like this that Carlisle has. We are our own show held within the grounds of the GM-Nationals. There has been a change in event planning personel, so these little bugs need to get worked out - and they are being worked on.

Don't panic - there is plenty of room to camp. True, it's a first-come, first-served thing for spots, but they do not fill up. Trust me..... It's usually our group and a few scattered motorhomes. And I will be getting there on Thursday morning - well before most people even think of getting there.

As soon as I have a definite answer, I'll post it up. Unless Mikey beats me to it, lol - I know he's working on it as well.
