Parking light assembly question

On the tails of my recent nightmares with fusible links and bad alternators, now I have noticed that my passenger side front turn signal/parking light does not work on my 71 RS. The side marker works fine, as do the ones on the driver's side. I was swapped bulbs and both work fine in the driver's side but neither works on the passenger side. I have taken the thing out (what a pain in the ass) after checking connections (which were fine). Is there any way to tell if the housing/assembly itself is bad? I guess I could just buy a replacement but would rather not spend 60 bucks unless I absolutely need too. The thing looks fine to me with no frayed wires and the connections look clean. If the problem is the wiring, how would I tell? The side marker signal works fine so I doubt the problem is something central. Any help with these electrical gremlins would be much appreciated!

Connect a test light to the wires going to the turn signal. If the test light works then the problem is in the socket itself.

I am sorry - but what is a "test light" and where do get one? Is there a way to use a multimeter?

It is very easy to check with a multimeter. Measure the voltage at the wires coming into the light sockets. One wire referenced to ground will have voltage when the park lights are on. The other one referenced to ground will have the flashing voltage when the turn signals are on. If you don't have the correct voltages at the base of the sockets, you have bad wiring. If the voltage is correct going into the socket but the light doesn't work, you have a bad socket or bulb.

OK, Thanks. So when I turn the signal on I should get one wire flashing 12v on and off and one a steady 12V? Also, if I connect the housing, can I do the same measurement at the posts in it? Should the same readings occur if it is working? I know the bulb is OK since it worked fine in the other assembly.
