I want to be able to drive the car to the track sitting in traffic and run 11s with a 4 speed. I would not mind changing to slicks at the track but I'm not gonna have room to carry the tires.
How street-able is your combo ?

That engine went into a 4x4 truck for street use and climbing sand hills.
With a 4 speed car it would be easily street able.
It was run on the dyno. with 93 octane.
Compression was 10.3-1.

It uses a very streetable HR Crane cam. HR-296-2S-12 IG
Unless you can shift a 4 speed, you can MPH like an 11 second car but only run 12's. or MPH like a 10 second car @ 125+ mph and dabble in the 11's.

I find with a 4spd getting out of the hole is the hardest part(no slicks).
The clutch is the key. Check out the UMTR site.

You guys are a huge help. I cant thank you enough, you have made me look at many more aspects than I was at first.
Some more info on the car is 4 speed 3.73 gears, 26 inch tall tire, leaf springs, 275 drag radials (still in the restoration)
I'm only gonna take the car to the track maybe 2-3 times a year. Some years maybe not at all, so I want the car setup for the street but beable to pull on the track and after some practice hit mid 11s.
I want something I can put in the local parades and not have to worry about it stalling out, etc, etc. But at the same time I want to beable to take it to a dyno day and have it lay down 4xx+ numbers at the wheels.

Drag radials and a manual trans don't mix. I tried to hook mine unsuccessfully at 4-5 visits to the track before I found out slicks are pretty much a necessity. I was trapping 106-107mph and only running 13.5s.
I am in the same boat as you. My 400hp 355 has been fun since I built it about 7 years ago. Now I want more power. I've got lots of SBC goodies, but the LS idea is calling my name.

A totally stock LQ4 or even a 4.8/5.3 with some sort of power adder is alot of fun, and great street manner and fuel economy can be retained and likely smoke the BBC.
I did a turbo Lq4 and she would run with my 502 with only 7psi. Never did get to crank the boost up, but could only imagine what 12psi would of felt like. 23 mpg quick tune-up.
I did the turbo lq4 for 7000.00 installed. Engine was only 1200.00 complete shipped to my door with all access and computer/harness, ready to run.
