D shaped exhaust port heads
What headers are you using on your d shaped exhaust port heads?

.
I used standard headers.
The same as any port, you just need to match the flange to fit.
Mine was Hooker super comps IIRC, but that was 20 years ago.

Round, oval or square port headers work well with D port heads.
The most flow is at the top of the port, the bottom has very little.
The mis-match works as an anti-reversation dam.
They used to sell anti-reversation adapters back in the early 80's.

Make sure the top of the D is not restricted by the pipe. The GM D-port heads are assymetric- more opening above the bolt line than below. IIRC, most 1-3/4" round headers will go over the D-port, but I'd use a gasket or pencil/paper/crayon template/rub to verify before installing them. The last thing you want is the top of the pipe hanging down into the top of of the D.

Thanks guys. The heads that are on my new crate engine are pro-filer with the d shaped port. My old engine allready had headers, 1 5/8 primaries. I am wondering if I have to buy new headers. Trust me I want too. And I will if nessesary but won't if I do t have too. What is the best sealing gasket? Aluminum? Thanks, charlton

Hedman and probably a few others make D port specific headers. My RPM heads are D port and Eddy guys told me use a standard 1 5/8 header, I went with Hooker's.
