Anybody here use CL?
Short rant:
"no money, do I finance?..."
(after I explicity say NO trades....)" Will you take my Yamaha (motorcycle) on trade?"
I said no e-mail, and my iphone exploded with scam e-mails.. I had to learn the iphone just to rid myself of this.....Joy..
A guy in NY has been contacting me for a week.. He understood I was firm on my price... Only turns out that because his wife answered the phone that I found out he's a dealer...
Trying to make a buck...
Knew my bottom dollar, had me take 127 pics, uploaded and sent them, and found out he was only "serious" at a further discount to which he still wouldn't commit......He was not only not ever serious, but it seems to be the norm on CL...
That's why I'm going back to ebay, and I should have sold last yr, rather than put up with this Mt. Everest of BS.....
Rant off...
127 or so pics I sent.....

Yep, all typical crap. It's ridiculous. I love when people email asking a lot of questions and then when you respond they never get back with you. I'll never put my phone number on an ad

I know what you mean.....I've never had as bad an experience as that, but....yeah I know. I now don't really even say too much (unless I sense the caller is somewhat honest) just to come look at it.
The #1 thing that burns my ass is "what's the least you'll take for it?" That's the single dumbest question I've ever heard. Dude hasn't even seen the car or parts whatever, but they ask that. I'm usually a borderline dickhead....hafta be.

I'll take a pic of the PILE of $20 bills I made selling stuff off CL just last night - 4 different guys came over to buy tires/parts I had listed
CL is great!
I NEVER will respond to an email - only a phone call, just like old school newspaper classifieds - that eliminates 99% of the BS

I use it now & then... but never for anything more than $500.
You're generally dealing with douche bags, so you have to be careful.
I've been lucky so far(knock-on-wood).

what I hate is I'll get an email "is it still available?" and I will reply 30 minutes later "yes" and then never hear back. WTF is with that? it happens all the time. On racing junk too.

I believe sometimes...(and somebody correct me if I'm wrong)....that once you respond back to them, they now have your email address, it's not hidden. I assume it's spam time after that.....I think that's why they ask that same stupid question all the time, and then you never hear anything more.

100% correct - these people are phishing for email addresses that they wil sell to spammers
you will NEVER receive a response from an email asking "is the item still available" or some other BS like that

I hate selling on Craigslist, I will peruse to buy though, although I don't often find anything worth buying on there. Generally people are asking ridiculous amounts of money for what they have.

I'm finding KILLER deals out there on Craigslist! Everybody's hurtin' right now and with these gas prices, that bad-ass guzzler show car in the garage is getting the evil eye (from some owners and definitely their wives).

Steve my buddy sold his 70 Chevelle a few months ago. He had it listed on Criagslist and had people from all over the country calling him. No one serious,,lol
I sell all kind of stuff on CL. I put my number on the ad, if someone e mails me I don't open it and delete it right away. When they call they better leave a message because I don't answer unknown numbers. This keeps just about all the bs away.

I always say "the least I will take over the phone is listed in the ad" otherwise if and when they come to look the original price is forgotten and now they are trying to negotiate from the "what's the least you will take for it" price I gave on the phone.
