My two dogs are my best friends. I would defend their lives just as vigorously as I would defend my human friends lives. If that means I gotta spend a few years in the clink to rid the planet of just one piece of s**t. Well hell I wouldn't even blink an eye.
I totally agree that it doesn't even have to be my animal. If I saw some sick bastard even trying to do that it would be HULK BLOOD!! time and next thing I would know I'd be in jail. Happy and content with my choices.

How anyone can say "it's just an animal" is beyond me.... that in and of itself is a hint that you're a little socially unstable.

My buddy once said for really heinous predators we should donate them to medical schools. Teach them how to amputate and how nerves work. Cut off his arms and legs, make him blind, make him deaf... lean him against a wall with only his thoughts. Let him starve to death... and if you want to be really generous to the med students, let them try to revive him a few times to perfect their skills at helping people / animals in need. I like that idea. Mess with my dog... lets just say that the reaction would be...... startling.

I've had my hunting license here in PA since I was 16 - I've hunted & still shoot deer, turkey, pheasant, geese, woodchucks, crows & just about anything else in the woods

..and I've even shot dogs (my dogs)

...I raised 3 pitbull pups from 12 weeks until they were 4 years old - Faith, Hope & Love - 3 sisters out of the same litter - at the time they were my children (didn't have any at that time), even sleeping in mine & the wife's bed

but Faith was a bad dog (fighting all the time) so the last time she was at the vet I had her put down..she was 3 yrs

when my son was born the two remaining dogs were aggressive toward him (they NEVER were before) we tried everything but they were NOT happy - I looked into adoption, the Humane Society etc, but because of the breed everyone said they would be euthanized immediately

it was hard, but me & MY two dogs took one last walk in the woods & each got one in the head from my 9mm - I was NOT going to see them suffer in some cold kennel awaiting the needle, so I did it myself (I get chills even thinking about it)

was that hard to do? HELL YES, did I cry for an hour? absolutely...but after it was all said & done & I covered up their graves they were still just dogs

Didn't click thread, probably best.

Anway, I was outdoors one morning and was with my dog (on a leash). A group of local middle-schoolers, (trained in hate by their loving parents, long story), came up my driveway and tried to run my dog over with their bikes. One kid came real close (luckily my dog is QUICK), screaming obscenities, and laughing...

Later that day he came by my business, winded, pushing his bike...it had two flat tires (possibly from the bush in my yard). He wanted to use my air supply to air it up to get home.

He couldn't seem to remember the eariler events now that he needed help, that he had tried to injure my dog or even that he'd threatened me.

I simply, said every pump was real busy for the rest of his life, the compressor was busy, in fact it might be better if maybe he found a new way to ride to school... Did I mention it was nice and warm? Fat little bastard had push his junk allll the way home in the heat...at least a mile.

Didn't ever see him again, nobody got hurt and I'm sure he learned a lesson about burning bridges...

Don't even want to think about what the link shows. There is a Yahoo article about a Chinese photographer who took portraits of several dogs just before they were euthanised. Had absolutely no desire to see it or the pictures.
